Mark My Words

“We grew up with books. Straight out of the womb, we surrounded ourselves with books from the moment that we could hold them. And have never put them down since. Even today if someone were to walk into one of our homes, there’s a good chance that books would be everywhere.” Click the link to read the rest! :)

Hello lovely people! I know I’ve mentioned this before, but I’m going to again.

I have started a blog with my dear friend Sarah full of our writing and thoughts about life, culture, news, entertainment, etc. It’s coming along quite nicely and I’m rather proud/excited about it. SO CHECK IT OUT!!!

Thanks :)

Saruman believes it is only great power that can hold evil in check, but that is not what I have found. I found it is the small everyday deeds of ordinary folk that keep the darkness at bay. Small acts of kindness and love.

Attention moping single friends,

Hey! Fellow single friends! Stop sulking!!! Yeah, it’s Valentine’s Day, but seriously, get over it. Why waste an entire day moping around about how love sucks and that you’re all alone in the world?

….

What about your friends? Family? Random people? They all love you! You don’t need to have a significant other to show/receive love. You should be spreading love every single day. So put away your Ben&Jerry’s, for goodness sake turn off The Notebook and go out! Show people how much you love them.

The Duck and The Owl

I’m super excited to announce the launch of a new blog I’ve created with my dear best friend, Sarah, “The Duck and The Owl.” It will be a collection of scatterbrained thoughts about life, cute things, and your thoughts too. Check out stuff we already have up including our thoughts on boy bands, summer camp, and Galentine’s Day!

Go here now! The Duck and The Owl

Rivers and Roads: The Quarter-Life Crisis

Today I started my last semester of classes ever. It’s a bittersweet experience and a reminder of what a lot of people around me are going through: a quarter-life crisis. Our future is entirely uncertain and entirely up to us. There’s no more hiding behind grades and other’s expectations. We knew what we had to do all of our lives. We had to get good grades to get to college and once we were in college we had to graduate. But now what? There are no expectations for us anymore. We have to create our own expectations. That’s a lot of pressure.

It’s  time to set our expectations high. This is the moment of our lives that we actually get to follow our dreams and finally get to do what we love. This isn’t a crisis, but an opportunity of excitement. So do it. Go forward and do what you’ve been waiting to do your whole life.

Being tender and open is beautiful. As a woman, I feel continually shhh’ed. Too sensitive. Too mushy. Too wishy washy. Blah Blah Blah. Don’t let someone steal your tenderness. Don’t allow the coldness and fear of others to tarnish your perfectly vulnerable beating heart. Nothing is more powerful than allowing yourself to truly be affected by things. Whether it’s a song, a stranger, a mountain, a tea kettle, an article, a sentence, a footstep, feel it all – look around you. All of this is for you. Take it and have gratitude. Give it and feel love.
